I'm hitting you with another post about snacks today.
But this one, my friend, is a little different.
It's an original recipe by yours truly.
Recipe creation is hard, y'all.
Especially if you've never really been much of a cook or chef or baker.
Now, my grandpa, on the other hand, that man could cook. And bake.
At one point, he owned an Italian restaurant in my hometown. He made a damn fine pizza pie, from what I understand.
He also made some pretty tasty treats, like his specialty - snickerdoodles.
It's been many, many years since I had one of his snickerdoodle cookies. Hell, it's been many, many years since I've had a snickerdoodle cookie.
And, while this recipe is not a cookie, it's got all the flavors of that cinnamon-y, sugar-y goodness without all the shitty sugar. Or flour. Or butter.
What they do have is:
- Nuts, which are full of protein and healthy fat to keep your belly feeling full longer
- Cinnamon, which is anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-biotic, and anti-microbial to keep you anti-sick
- Dates, which are not only a delicious natural sweetener but also a source of natural energy (peace out, afternoon crash).
So, my friend, let's get rolling with some Snickerdoodle Snack Balls. I hope my grandpa would be proud.
